Make Any Event More Memorable by Serving Up Caviar
If someone were to ask you to recall your favorite special celebration what would you say? What if they just asked you to describe your favorite Christmas morning? It is a sad fact that many wonderful times spent with those we love tend to blend into a hazy recollection that has dulled over time. Every once in a while, however, there was something that made one particular moment stand in crisp outline against the fog of memory. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could orchestrate those kinds of moments?
Caviar is a food that is more than a dainty added to a sideboard. Caviar is an experience, an event. It is a delicacy that contributes more than distinct flavor – it can make a moment indelible upon the heart. Because serving caviar says something not only about your superb taste, it speaks volumes about how you feel toward those to whom you serve it. Few food items convey the sense of occasion that is to be enjoyed when caviar is presented to guests and loved ones.
Winter Holidays are Perfect Occasions for Serving or Giving Caviar
With a seemingly endless round of holiday parties to be given and attended, how can you make your fête truly special – by serving uniquely delicious caviar appetizers? Everyone will remember tartlets filled with creamed crab and dusted with flavorful Osetra caviar or tiny canapé squares of white bread layered with smoked salmon and Beluga caviar wearing a dill sprig. If you’re racking your brain to come up with a gift that conveys your depth of feeling for that special someone – why not put together a champagne and caviar gift bag and tuck an appropriate sonnet inside? Want to tell that business partner or client how much you value them – caviar gets the message across loud and clear.

Gifting Wine for the Holidays – Chore or Opportunity?
Posted by adoex in Fruits, Information About Food on December 30, 2011
Everyone seems to give each other wine during the holidays. And for good reason. How can you make your gift stand out? It’s not as hard as you think to buy a wine that perfectly matches your host’s style and taste. Put in a little effort, and you will enjoy the rich reward of a recipient who not only enjoyed your selection, but felt like you purchased your gift just for him (or her).
First, avoid purchasing any mass market labels, which are most bottles available at your local supermarket. That being said, if you *know* your neighbor across the street loves Yellowtail Chardonnay, by all means go for it. However, in general, it is best to avoid bottles that are available everywhere.
Next, always purchase something that you have already tried! This seems like obvious advice, but I have fallen for this trap too many times to not mention it. The wineseller advises you that this particular cab is to die for, at a great price, etc. etc. only to have it taste like nothing you would ever want to drink once you get it to the party. In addition, you will have something to say should your host ask you something like “Should we open this now or is this bottle better with dinner?”

It’s possible to cook practically anything in a crock pot, but have you ever though about the plain old potato? Most people would not think of cooking side dishes in a slow cooker since generally these appliances are used for making one pot meals. One really great way to bring a new side dish to the table is by creating a delicious crock pot potato recipe.
A Bit About the Potato Itself
Most likely, you’ve never given the potato much thought other than whether or not to use one or two ‘dolups of Daisy’ on your baked potato. Potatoes are so common place we tend to stick with what we’ve grown up with or know best, basic mashed or french fried. The potato does, however, have a rich and interesting history, and can be researched as far back in history as four thousand years ago to Peru. However, when it was first brought to the European continent it was not exactly a big hit because the people at the time believed potatoes to be harbingers of disease. Wow, humans have certainly come a long way.
